Jaspe is the name of the technique used in this fabric. It involves tying hundreds of tiny strings in knots around a thread bundle, then submerging the bundle in a dye.
When the strings are removed, a vibrant pattern is left over where the dye couldnt penetrate. Then the threads are ready to be handwoven.
Since the fabric is hand woven, it is woven according to the old standard of measurement and is 36 inches wide. It is sold by the yard.
