Front of clutch is made from a vintage Guatemalan textile or Huipil weaved in a back strap loom. Women tie the loom to a tree, or some anchor, and then the other end is tied around their waist.
They move back until there is tension on the warp and then weave with a shuttle and a wooden tamper.
This product is produced from a huipil, which is a hand woven blouse that mayan women have worn for over 1200 years.
Handwoven on back strap looms, they use techniques passed on from many generations.
A single garment can take anywhere from one to six months to complete with the end result being a one-of-a-kind piece of art.
