Macrame is a knotting technique used to create textiles. It originated in the 13th-century by Arabic Weavers who would use it to adorn camels and horses. It would keep flies off the animals and beautify them.

Macrame was most popular in the Victorian era. Most homes were adorned with decorative items such as tablecloths, bedspreads, curtains made from this textile.
